Friday June 17, 2022

A meeting of the Working Group on the Long Term Vision and Plan (LTVP) and the Centre Block Rehabilitation was held in camera June 17, 2022, at 3:35 p.m., in Room 035-B, West Block.

In the chair: Chris d’Entremont, Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons

Present: Hon. Steven MacKinnon, Ruby Sahota, Kelly Block, Louis Plamondon and Carol Hughes.

Also Present: Michel Patrice, Deputy Clerk, Administration; Darrell de Grandmont, Director, Centre Block Program; Susan Kulba, Director General and Chief Architect, Real Property; Thomas Mason, Senior Project Manager, Centre Block Program; Lisa May, Project Manager, Centre Block Program; Rob Wright, Assistant Deputy Minister, Science and Parliamentary Infrastructure Branch, Public Services and Procurement Canada; Jennifer Garrett, Director General, Centre Block Program, Public Services and Procurement Canada; Natalka Cmoc, Director General, Science and Policy Sector, Public Services and Procurement Canada; Ismail Albaidhani, Senior Advisor, Office of the Clerk and Secretariat; Carine Grand-Jean, Senior Administrative Assistant, Office of the Clerk and Secretariat.

PARLIAMENTARIAN OFFICE UNIT STRATEGY

Susan Kulba presented the parliamentarian office units’ strategy, together with Rob Wright, Assistant Deputy Minister, Science and Parliamentary Infrastructure Branch, Public Services and Procurement Canada; and Michel Patrice, Deputy Clerk, Administration, answered questions.

ENGAGEMENT OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLES

Rob Wright presented the updates on the engagements of indigenous people and the parliamentary precinct, and with Michel Patrice, answered questions.

The subject of smudging has been discussed, and it was agreed to discuss the topic with the Senate during an upcoming joint meeting and that Members of the Working Group would consult their indigenous colleagues on this topic before the upcoming joint meeting.

PROSPECTIVE AGENDA TOPICS

Susan Kulba, Director General and Chief Architect, Real Property and Jennifer Garrett, Director General, Centre Block Program, Public Services and Procurement Canada presented the different prospective agenda topics.

Susan Kulba presented item (a) on material handling, and with Jennifer Garrett, they presented item (b) concerning accessibility.

It was agreed that – the person responsible for the House of Commons accessibility program presents to the Working Group during an upcoming meeting of the Working Group.

Jennifer Garrett presented topic (c) related to sustainability, and with Rob Wright, answered questions.

It was agreed that – a visit for the LTVP Working Group members at the Centre Block be organized at the next meeting.
