Meeting No. 13

Tuesday, May 11, 1999

The Sub-Committee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 11:05 a.m. this day, in Room 705, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Carolyn Bennett, presiding.

Member(s) of the Sub-Committee present: Carolyn Bennett, Madeleine Dalphond-Guiral, Deborah Grey, Wendy Lill, Judi Longfield and The Hon. Andy Scott.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Sandra Harder and Bill Young, Research Officers.

Witness(es): From the Department of Human Resources Canada: Victor Rabinovitch, Assistant Deputy Minister, Income Security Programs; Cathy Drummond, Director General, Program Policy and Planning, Income Security Programs; Doug Taylor, Acting Director General, Central Operations, Income Security Programs.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(c) study of matters relating to the proposing, promoting, monitoring and assessing of initiatives aimed at the integration and equality of disabled persons in all sectors of Canadian Society

Victor Rabinovitch made a statement and with the other witnesses answered questions.

At 12:38 the sitting was suspended.

At 12:43 the sitting resumed in camera.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of its future business.

It was decided that the Committee report on the evidence it has heard and identify the issues.

At 12:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
