The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met by teleconference at 3:33 p.m. this day, in Room 701 La Promenade Building, the Chair, Merv Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Don H. Bell, Steven Blaney, Robert Carrier, Ed Fast, Brian Jean, Peter Julian, Mario Laframboise, David J. McGuinty, Hon. Andy Scott, Brian Storseth and Merv Tweed.

 

Acting Members present: Olivia Chow for Peter Julian and Francis Scarpaleggia for Hon. Charles Hubbard.

 

Associate Members present: Jacques Gourde and Mark Warawa.

 

Other Members present: Michel Guimond.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Samy Agha, Procedural Clerk. Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst; Allison Padova, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: City of Lévis: Jean-Pierre Bazinet, President, Chutes-la-Chaudière East Sector; Alain Lemaire, Municipal Consellor. City of Quebec: François Picard, Second Vice-President of the Executive Committee; André Demers, Municipal Consellor. City of Langley: Peter Fassbender, Mayor. City of New Westminster: Jim Lowrie, Director, Engineering Services. Township of Langley: Colin Wright, General Manager, Engineering.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Thursday, September 21, 2006, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-11, An Act to amend the Canada Transportation Act and the Railway Safety Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Peter Julian moved, — That the Roger Tassé Review of the Toronto Port Authority be made public and subject to a review at an upcoming meeting of the Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities.

Debate arose thereon.

 

After debate, by unanimous consent, the motion was withdrawn.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
