The Standing Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities met by teleconference at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 701 La Promenade Building, the Chair, Merv Tweed, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Don H. Bell, Steven Blaney, Ed Fast, Hon. Charles Hubbard, Brian Jean, Peter Julian, David J. McGuinty, Hon. Andy Scott, Brian Storseth and Merv Tweed.

 

Acting Members present: Réal Ménard for Mario Laframboise and Thierry St-Cyr for Robert Carrier.

 

In attendance: House of Commons: Samy Agha, Procedural Clerk. Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Analyst; Allison Padova, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Coalition québécoise contre les bruits ferroviaires: Christian Jobin, Coordinator. ProPointe: Paul Gantous. Comité Anti-Bruit: Robert Dalpé. As individuals: Joanne Fisher; Brian Allen.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Thursday, September 21, 2006, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-11, An Act to amend the Canada Transportation Act and the Railway Safety Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, - That the budget in the amount of $30,400 for a study on Bill C-11 starting October 5, 2006 be adopted.

 

At 5:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
