The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the Committee undertake a study of the Air Passenger Protection Regulations, their shortcomings and what needs to be done to improve them; and that this study be carried out in four meetings or more.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the Committee commit to undertake a study focusing on the role that alternatives to conventional fossil fuels can play in reducing GHG emissions in Canada’s heavy trucking and air transport transportation sectors and that the committee allocate a minimum of six meetings to this study.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake a study on ways to reduce red tape and costs on rural and Urban Canadian airports to make air travel more affordable and accessible.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee commit to undertake a study focusing on current and anticipated labour shortages in the Canadian transportation sector, for example truck drivers, mariners, maintenance staff, trainers/instructors and various types of engineers and technicians in the aviation sector; that the study would identify the implications of such shortages and look at possible solutions to alleviate problems stemming from them; and that the committee allocate a minimum of six meetings to this study.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake a study on inter-city transport by bus in Canada; that no fewer than four meetings be set aside for this study; and that the impact of the cancellation of Greyhound bus service and the COVID-19 pandemic be examined as part of the study.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the Committee undertake a study on the progress of the railway bypass project in Lac-Mégantic, Quebec and that this study be carried out in one meeting.

It was agreed, — That the Committee commit to undertake a study examining how climate change is likely to impact Canada’s transportation networks and supply chains, identifying potential risks and measures to mitigate those risks; and that the committee allocate a minimum of eight meetings to this study.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study of no less than four meetings on improving rural and remote rail service.

It was agreed, — That the committee commit to undertake a study examining the risk posed by cybersecurity attacks against Canada’s transportation infrastructure, identifying existing gaps in cyber security defenses and exploring measures to mitigate cyber security threats against transportation infrastructure; that the committee allocate a minimum of two meetings to this study.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the committee undertake a study of no less than four meetings on large port infrastructure expansion projects in Canada.

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108 (2), the Committee undertake a study on the impact of commercial shipping on shoreline erosion; and that this study be carried out in three meetings.
