Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the committee on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, the committee resumed its study of potential trade impacts of the United States Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 on certain firms and workers in Canada.

The committee resumed consideration of a draft report.

It was agreed, — That the committee proceed to sit in public.

At 12:19 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:26 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to committee business.

Motion

Simon-Pierre Savard-Tremblay moved, — That the Committee commence clause-by-clause consideration of Bill C-282, An Act to amend the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Act (supply management), on Thursday, April 20, 2023; that the Committee allocate a maximum of four consecutive hours, divided into no more than two meetings, to complete the said study; and that, if at the end of the four hours provided for, the Committee has not completed its deliberations, Bill C-282 be deemed to have been adopted, and that it be thereby referred back to the House.

Debate arose thereon.

Motion

Kyle Seeback moved, — That the committee proceed to the study of potential trade impacts of the United States Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 on certain firms and workers in Canada.

The question was put on the motion and it was negatived on the following recorded division:

YEAS: Tony Baldinelli, Richard Martel, Kyle Seeback, Ryan Williams — 4;

NAYS: Chandra Arya, Richard Cannings, Anju Dhillon, Wilson Miao, Simon-Pierre Savard-Tremblay, Terry Sheehan, Arif Virani — 7.

At 1:02 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
