Motion
The committee resumed consideration of the motion moved by Heather McPherson on Thursday, February 18, 2021, — That the committee recognizes that, due to failures by the government to ensure adequate supply of vaccines for Canadians through national manufacturing and international procurement, Canada is the only G7 country accessing vaccines through COVAX, an initiative intended to provide vaccines to high-risk individuals in low and middle-income countries.The committee further recognizes that this failure by the government to secure domestic supply makes Canadians more vulnerable to dangerous variants and extends the detrimental global economic impacts of COVID-19 by delaying vaccinations to high-risk people in poor countries.

The committee resumed consideration of the amendment moved by Ruby Sahota on Thursday, February 18, 2021 — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “failures by the government to ensure adequate” with the words “global circumstances, the government has faced delays in the” and deleting the words “Finally, that the committee report this motion to the House”

Motion
Garnett Genius sought unanimous consent to move the following motion —That the floor be yielded to MP McPherson to address the amendment; that after MP McPherson has completed her intervention that the debate be now adjourned; and that the committee proceed to the consideration of the draft report on the human rights situation of the Uyghurs.
Unanimous consent was denied.

A point of order was raised by Michael Chong to seek unanimous consent to move the following motion — That the committee adopt the report of the Subcommittee on International Human Rights titled “Human Rights Situation of the Uighurs”; and that the chair report this report to the House.

The chair ruled that Mr. Chong did not properly have the floor to seek unanimous consent, and that a motion could not be moved on a point of order.
Whereupon, Michael D. Chong appealed the decision of the Chair.
