Minutes of Proceedings
It was agreed, — That the First Report from the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, which read as follows, be concurred in:
Your subcommittee met on Thursday, February 27, 2020, to consider the business of the committee and agreed to make the following recommendations:
That the Preliminary Workplan revised on February 27, 2020 be adopted, subject to witness availability.
That the committee may hold additional meetings on any theme related to the mandate of the committee, including those already indicated in the Preliminary Workplan revised on February 27, 2020, or others as agreed to by the committee.
That the subcommittee meet before the end of March to discuss future business.
It was agreed, — That John McCallum’s written opening statement be considered as a brief submitted to the committee and that the clerk engage with him to find another time to appear before the committee.
At 9:52 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 9:56 a.m., the sitting resumed in public and televised session.
On motion of John Williamson, it was agreed, — That the committee express its grave concern over the arrest of Jimmy Lai Chee-ying, Lee Cheuk-yan and Yeung Sum in Hong Kong, and that this be reported to the House.
Howard Balloch and Guy Saint-Jacques made statements and answered questions.
At 11:23 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 11:32 a.m., the sitting resumed.
Bonnie Glaser, by videoconference from Washington, D.C., David Shambaugh, by videoconference from Washington, D.C., and Yun Sun, by videoconference from Oslo, Norway, made statements and answered questions.
