Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, May 9, 2017, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-44, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 22, 2017 and other measures.

Luke Harford, Murray Souter, Carl Sparkes, Joyce Reynolds and Jan Westcott made statements and answered questions.

At 5:05 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 5:10 p.m., the sitting resumed.

It was agreed, — That the Committee, in its consideration of Bill C-44, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 22, 2017 and other measures, proceed as follows:

  1. The Committee proceed with clause-by-clause consideration of the Bill no later than Monday, May 29, 2017, at 3:30 p.m., provided that the Chair may limit debate on each clause to a maximum of five minutes per party, per clause;
  2. The Committee may sit until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2017, and resume sitting on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 8:45 a.m., as required;
  3. If the Committee has not completed clause-by-clause consideration of the Bill by 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, all remaining amendments submitted to the Committee shall be deemed moved, the Chair shall put the question, forthwith and successively, without further debate, on all remaining clauses and amendments, as well as each and every question necessary to: (i) dispose of clause-by-clause consideration of the Bill, (ii) report the Bill to the House, and (iii) order the Chair to report the Bill to the House as soon as possible.

At 6:18 p.m., by unanimous consent and pursuant to Standing Order 115(5), it was agreed that the Committee continue to sit.

Roger Ermuth made a statement and answered questions.

At 6:30 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
