The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met at 3:31 p.m. this day, in Room 268, The Valour Building, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Kelly Block, Guy Caron, Joan Crockatt, Linda Duncan, Ryan Leef, Pat Perkins, Hon. Geoff Regan and Brad Trost.

 

Acting Members present: John Rafferty for Chris Charlton.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Mohamed Zakzouk, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement: Aran O'Carroll, Executive Director, Secretariat; Mark Hubert, Vice-President, Environmental Leadership, Forest Products Association of Canada. Forest Products Association of Canada: David L. Lindsay, President and Chief Executive Officer; Catherine Cobden, Executive Vice-President. FPInnovations: Pierre Lapointe, President and CEO; Jean-Pierre Martel, Vice President, Strategic Partnerships.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, January 29, 2015, the Committee commenced its study of the renewal of Canada’s forest industry.
 

Pierre Lapointe, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, Aran O'Carroll and David L. Lindsay made statements and, with Jean-Pierre Martel, by videoconference from Vancouver, British Columbia, and Catherine Cobden answered questions.

 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $ 27,600, for the study of the Renewal of Canada’s Forest Industry, be adopted.

 

At 5:28 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
