The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met in a televised session at 8:47 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Leon Benoit, Kelly Block, Blaine Calkins, Joan Crockatt, Linda Duncan, Ryan Leef, Christine Moore, Hon. Geoff Regan and Brad Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Megan Anissa Leslie for Chris Charlton.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst; Milana Simikian, Analyst.

 

Appearing: Hon. Greg Rickford, P.C., M.P., Minister of Natural Resources.

 

Witnesses: Department of Natural Resources: Serge Dupont, Deputy Minister; Kami Ramcharan, Assistant Deputy Minister, Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Management and Services Sector.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2014-15: Vote 1 under ATOMIC ENERGY OF CANADA LIMITED, Vote 1 under CANADIAN NUCLEAR SAFETY COMMISSION, Vote 1 under NATIONAL ENERGY BOARD, Votes 1, 5 and 10 under NATURAL RESOURCES, Vote 1 under NORTHERN PIPELINE AGENCY, referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 27, 2014.
 

The Chair called Vote 1 under ATOMIC ENERGY OF CANADA LIMITED.

 

The Minister made a statement and answered questions.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake a study of the subject matter of Bill C-22, An Act respecting Canada's offshore oil and gas operations, enacting the Nuclear Liability and Compensation Act, repealing the Nuclear Liability Act and making consequential amendments to other Acts.

 

At 10:50 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
