The Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics met at 11:46 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Pat Martin, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Scott Andrews, Charmaine Borg, Paul Calandra, Patricia Davidson, Jacques Gourde, Hon. Laurie Hawn, Pat Martin, Tilly O'Neill Gordon, Mathieu Ravignat and Bob Zimmer.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Dara Lithwick, Analyst; Maxime-Olivier Thibodeau, Analyst. House of Commons: Philippe Méla, Legislative Clerk.

 

Witnesses: As individuals: Éloïse Gratton, Partner and Co-Chair, Privacy, McMillan LLP; Avner Levin, Associate Professor and Director, Privacy and Cyber Crime Institute, Ryerson University.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(h) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 7, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the growing problem of identity theft and its economic impact.
 

Éloïse Gratton and Avner Levin made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:34 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:36 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That a proposed budget in the amount of $ 26,400, for the study of the growing problem of identity theft and its economic impact, be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That one meeting be dedicated to the study of the Main Estimates 2014-15, referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 27, 2014.

 

At 12:57 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
