The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 11:48 a.m. this day, in Room 8-53, 131 Queen Street, the Chair, Bev Shipley, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Denis Blanchette, Ruth Ellen Brosseau, Earl Dreeshen, Hon. Mark Eyking, Pierre Lemieux, LaVar Payne, Bev Shipley and Bob Zimmer.

 

Acting Members present: Malcolm Allen for Francine Raynault and Kyle Seeback for Randy Hoback.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Frédéric Forge, Analyst; Khamla Heminthavong, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Ornamental Horticulture Alliance: Chris D. Andrews, Administrator. Dairy Farmers of Canada: Réjean Bouchard, Assistant Director , Policy and Dairy Production. Canadian Animal Health Coalition: R. Edward Empringham, Senior Project Manager. Canadian Fertilizer Institute: Clyde Graham, Acting President. Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, June 17, 2014, the Committee resumed consideration of Bill C-18, An Act to amend certain Acts relating to agriculture and agri-food.
 

R. Edward Empringham, by videoconference from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Dave Solverson and Reg Schmidt, by videoconference from Edmonton, Alberta and Clyde Graham made statements and with Ryder Lee, by videoconference from Edmonton, Alberta, answered questions.

 

At 12:29 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:32 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 

Chris D. Andrews, by videoconference from Richmond Hill, Ontario, Deborah Hart, by videoconference from Edmonton, Alberta, Ashley St Hilaire and Réjean Bouchard made statements and answered questions.

 

At 1:14 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
