The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met at 8:50 a.m. this day, in Room 268, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Rodney Weston, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, Robert Chisholm, Patricia Davidson, Randy Kamp, Hon. Lawrence MacAulay, Robert Sopuck, Philip Toone, Jonathan Tremblay, John Weston, Rodney Weston and Stephen Woodworth.

 

Acting Members present: Jean Crowder for Fin Donnelly.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Nicolas Thai Nguyen, Analyst; Tim Williams, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Assembly of First Nations: Audrey Mayes, Senior Policy Analyst, Environmental Stewardship; Dan Pujdak, Policy Analyst, Environmental Stewardship. Atlantic Salmon Federation: Bill Taylor, President. Assembly of First Nations: Stuart Wuttke, General Counsel.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, November 1, 2012, the Committee resumed its study of the subject matter of clauses 173 to 178 (Fisheries Act) of Bill C-45, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 29, 2012 and other measures.
 

Stuart Wuttke made a statement and, with Audrey Mayes, answered questions.

 

Bill Taylor made a statement and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Randy Kamp moved, — That the Committee proceed to sit in camera.

 

The question was put on the motion and it was agreed to on the following recorded division: YEAS: Mike Allen, Patricia Davidson, Randy Kamp, Robert Sopuck, John Weston, Stephen Woodworth — 6; NAYS: Robert Chisholm, Jean Crowder, Lawrence MacAulay, Philip Toone, Jonathan Tremblay — 5.

 

At 10:20 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:23 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the Committee's study of the subject matter of clauses 173 to 178 (Fisheries Act) of Bill C-45, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on Thursday, March 29, 2012 and other measures, the proposed budget in the amount of $3,675.00 be adopted.

 

It was agreed, — That officials from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans who appeared before the Committee on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 be invited to reappear on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 for the first hour, and that the Committee meeting start at 8:00 a.m., instead of the usual time at 8:45 a.m.

 

At 10:37 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
