The Standing Committee on Natural Resources met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Leon Benoit, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Mike Allen, David Anderson, Hon. Navdeep Bains, Leon Benoit, Paule Brunelle, Nathan Cullen, Russ Hiebert, Hon. Geoff Regan, Devinder Shory, Alan Tonks and Brad Trost.

 

Acting Members present: Luc Malo for France Bonsant and Francis Scarpaleggia for Hon. Navdeep Bains.

 

Associate Members present: Cheryl Gallant.

 

Other Members present: Francis Scarpaleggia.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Luc Bourdages, Analyst; Mohamed Zakzouk, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: As an individual: Linda J. Keen, Specialist, Safety and Risk Management. Canadian Institute for Neutron Scattering: Dominic Ryan, President. McMaster University: Christopher Heysel, Director, Nuclear Operations and Facilities, McMaster Nuclear Reactor; Dave Tucker, Senior Health Physicist, Health Physics; John Valliant, Director, Isotope Research, McMaster Nuclear Reactor. TRIUMF: Nigel Lockyer, Director.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the Atomic Energy Canada Limited facility at Chalk River and the status of the production of medical isotopes.
 

Linda J. Keen, Dominic Ryan, Christopher Heysel and Nigel Lockyer made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 5:32 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
