The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met in a televised session at 11:08 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Derek Lee, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Diane Bourgeois, Patrick Brown, Paul Calandra, Jacques Gourde, Martha Hall Findlay, Derek Lee, Pat Martin, Jean-Yves Roy and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Rob Clarke for Chris Warkentin and Marcel Proulx for Judy Foote.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lydia Scratch, Analyst; Hughes Létourneau, Intern.

 

Appearing: Hon. Christian Paradis, Minister of Public Works and Government Services.

 

Witnesses: Department of Public Works and Government Services: François Guimont, Deputy Minister; Jean-Luc Caron, Acting Chief Financial Officer, Finance Branch; Tim McGrath, Assistant Deputy Minister, Real Property Branch; Mike Hawkes, Special Advisor, Accelerated Infrastructure Program; Daphne Meredith, Associate Deputy Minister.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2009-2010: Votes 1 and 5 under PUBLIC WORKS AND GOVERNMENT SERVICES referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 26, 2009.
 

The Minister made a statement and, with François Guimont, Tim McGrath and Jean-Luc Caron, answered questions.

 

The Chair called Votes 1 and 5 under PUBLIC WORKS AND GOVERNMENT SERVICES.

 

Votes 1 and 5 under PUBLIC WORKS AND GOVERNMENT SERVICES, less the amounts voted in Interim Supply, carried.

 

The Chair called Votes 95, 100, 105 and 110 under CANADIAN HERITAGE.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Committee report to the House of Commons that it recommends and agrees with the adoption of the User Fee Proposal relating to the Esquimalt Graving Dock, tabled in the House of Commons on May 20, 2009.

 

At 1:01 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
