The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 11:06 a.m. in camera this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Derek Lee, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Diane Bourgeois, Paul Calandra, Judy Foote, Jacques Gourde, Martha Hall Findlay, Derek Lee, Pat Martin, Jean-Yves Roy and Chris Warkentin.

Acting Members present: Bruce Stanton for Patrick Brown.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lydia Scratch, Analyst ; Hughes Létourneau, Intern.

Appearing: Hon. Vic Toews, President of the Treasury Board.

Witnesses: Treasury Board Secretariat: Alister Smith, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector; Kelly Gillis, Assistant Secretary, Corporate Services Sector.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That the Committee invite the Public Service Commission to appear on Thursday, June 18, 2009, rather than Tuesday, June 9, 2009, as was initially agreed at the meeting of Tuesday, May 12, 2009.

At 12:02 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:03 p.m., the sitting resumed in public.

Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2009-2010: Votes 1, 5, 10, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 and 55 TREASURY BOARD referred to the Committee on Thursday, February 26, 2009.

The Minister made a statement and, with Alister Smith, answered questions.

At 1:02 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
