The Standing Committee on Government Operations and Estimates met at 11:07 a.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Derek Lee, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Diane Bourgeois, Patrick Brown, Paul Calandra, Jacques Gourde, Martha Hall Findlay, Derek Lee, Hon. Dan McTeague, Jean-Yves Roy and Chris Warkentin.

 

Acting Members present: Paul Dewar for Pat Martin and Hon. Bob Rae for Hon. Dan McTeague.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lydia Scratch, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Finance: Richard Botham, Director, Microeconomic Policy Analysis, Economic Development and Corporate Finance. Treasury Board Secretariat: Bob Hirst, Executive Director, Assets and Acquired Services, Government Operations Sector; Alister Smith, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector; Shirley Jen, Senior Director, Real Property and Material Policy Division.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday February 12, 2009, the Committee commenced its study of corporate assets management and expenditure review.
 

Richard Botham, Bob Hirst and Alister Smith made a statement and, with Shirley Jen, answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee undertake the study of the Public Services Commission's Main Estimates 2009-2010 on Tuesday March 31, 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake a study on the public service demographic challenge on Thursday April 2, 2009.

 

It was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resume its study on the economic stimulus package on Tuesday April 21, 2009.

 

At 1:05 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
