The Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 8:33 a.m. this day, in Ballroom Section I, High Country Inn, Whitehorse, Yukon, the Chair, Dean Allison, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Dean Allison, Dona Cadman, Tony Martin and Michael John Savage.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Hilary Jensen, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Council of Yukon First Nations: Ed Schultz, Executive Director. Food Bank Society of Whitehorse: Julie Ménard, Executive Director. Outreach Van: Patricia Bacon, Manager. Social Justice Committee at Sacred Heart Cathedral: Michael Dougherty, Co-chair, Diocese of Whitehorse. Yukon Anti-Poverty Coalition: Laura MacFeeters, Representative. Yukon Council on disABILITY: Amy Martey, Employer Liaison and Job Coach. Yukon Housing Corporation: Don Routledge, Senior Program Advisor. Yukon Status of Women Council: Charlotte Hrenchuk, Coordinator.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, the Committee resumed its study of the federal contribution to reducing poverty in Canada.
 

Julie Ménard, Laura MacFeeters and Amy Martey made statements and answered questions.

 

At 9:28 a.m., the sitting was suspended.
