The Special Committee on the Canadian Mission in Afghanistan met in a televised session at 6:29 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Pierre Lemieux, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Claude Bachand, Vivian Barbot, Sylvie Boucher, Hon. Ujjal Dosanjh, Laurie Hawn, Pierre Lemieux, Dave MacKenzie, Deepak Obhrai, Bernard Patry and Hon. Bob Rae.

 

Acting Members present: Paul Dewar for Dawn Black, Daniel Petit for Gerald Keddy and Borys Wrzesnewskyj for Hon. Bryon Wilfert.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: James Cox, Analyst; James Lee, Analyst; Robert Dufresne, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Privy Council Office: David Mulroney, Deputy Minister, Afghanistan Task Force.

 
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of April 8, 2008, the Committee resumed its study of Canada's mission in Afghanistan.
 

David Mulroney made a statement and answered questions.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

At 7:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 7:36 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That the Special Committee rescind the motion of May 1, 2008, adopting the previous budget proposal.

 

It was agreed, — That the proposed budget in the amount of $ 171,798 be the budget for the Special Committee on the Canadian Mission in Afghanistan and, that it be submitted to the Board of Internal Economy for approval as soon as possible.

 

At 7:39 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
