The Standing Committee on Health met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Rob Merrifield, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Dave Batters, Colleen Beaumier, Hon. Carolyn Bennett, Bonnie Brown, Patrick Brown, Patricia Davidson, Steven John Fletcher, Christiane Gagnon, Susan Kadis, Luc Malo, Rob Merrifield and Penny Priddy.

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Odette Madore, Analyst ; Nancy Miller Chenier, Analyst.

Witnesses: Conference of Deputy Ministers of Health: John Wright, Co-Chair and Deputy Minister, Saskatchewan Health, Government of Saskatchewan; Ed Hunt, Chair of the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health Board of Directors and Assistant Deputy Minister, Department of Health and Community Services, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health: Jill M. Sanders, President and Chief Executive Officer; Mike Tierney, Vice-President, Common Drug Review; Braden Manns, Chair, Canadian Expert Drug Advisory Committee. British Columbia Ministry of Health: Robert Nakagawa, Assistant Deputy Minister, Pharmaceutical Services.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, December 12, 2006, the Committee resumed its study on Prescription Drugs (Common Drug Review).

John Wright, Jill M. Sanders and Robert Nakagawa made statements and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

At 5:28 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
