The Standing Committee on the Status of Women met at 11:15 a.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Judy Sgro, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Patricia Davidson, Johanne Deschamps, Helena Guergis, Irene Mathyssen, Hon. Maria Minna, Maria Mourani, Hon. Judy Sgro, Joy Smith and Bruce Stanton.

 

Acting Members present: Ken Epp for Nina Grewal and Hon. John Godfrey for Hon. Belinda Stronach.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Lyne Casavant, Analyst; Marlisa Tiedemann, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Montreal City Police Service: Dominic Monchamp, Sergeant Detective, Supervisor of Investigations Module (E.S.E.C.), Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children, Vice and Alcohol West. Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women Canada: Shauna Paull, Member.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, September 21st, 2006, the Committee resumed its study of human trafficking.
 

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

 

At 12:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the meeting with Deputy Ministers on Gender Based Analysis be postponed until the new year.

 

It was agreed, — That the Committee hold meetings on the changes to Status of Women Canada on Wednesday, December 6, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, December 13, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

 

At 12:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
