The Subcommittee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities of the Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills Development, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:38 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, Ken Boshcoff, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Ken Boshcoff, Peter Julian, Carol Skelton and Robert Vincent.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Chantal Collin, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Social Development: Georges Grujic, Director, Programs; Nancy Lawand, Director, CPP Disability Policy; Cecilia Muir, Director General, Office for Disability Issues; Susan Scotti, Assistant Deputy Minister, Social Development Sectors; Susan Williams, Director General, Disability Benefits and Appeals.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Subcommittee proceeded to a briefing session on disability issues.
 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That the briefing session on disability issues be postponed until Wednesday, December 15, 2004.

 

At 3:58 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:00 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Subcommittee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Subcommittee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the amount for the 2005 Centennial Flame Research Award be set at $4,000.

 

It was agreed, — That the press release announcing the 2005 Centennial Flame Research Award be published in January 2005.

 

It was agreed, — That the deadline for submitting applications be in April 2005 and that the decision be finalized in June 2005.

 

It was agreed, — That Carol Skelton be elected as Vice-Chair of the Subcommittee.

 

At 4:23 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
