The Subcommittee on Committee Budgets of the Liaison Committee met in camera at 1:08 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N Centre Block, the Chair, Bonnie Brown, presiding.

 

Members of the Subcommittee present: Bonnie Brown, Marlene Catterall, Gurmant Grewal, Pat O'Brien, Bernard Patry and John Williams.

 

Acting Members present: Nancy Karetak-Lindell for Andrew Telegdi and Pablo Rodriguez for Marlene Catterall.

 

Other Members present: Pablo Rodriguez, Anthony Rota, Kevin Sorenson and Tom Wappel.

 

In attendance: Subcommittee on Public Safety and National Security of the Standing Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness: Wayne Cole, Clerk of the Subcommittee. Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs: Angela Crandall, Clerk of the Subcommittee. Standing Committee on Official Languages: Marc-Olivier Girard, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage: Jacques Lahaie, Clerk of the Committee. Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans: James M. Latimer, Clerk of the Committee. House of Commons: Anik Paquette, Senior Financial Advisor.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 107(1), the Subcommittee commenced its study of budget sumissions.
 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage be granted a supplementary travel budget of $10,643 to travel to Vancouver (BC), from April 12 to 15, 2005 for public hearings on its study on the Canadian Feature Film Industry.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage be granted a supplementary travel budget of $8,745 to travel to Toronto (ON), from April 5 to 8, 2005 for public hearings on its study on the Canadian Feature Film Industry.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage be granted a supplementary travel budget of $9,302 to travel to Montreal (QC), from April 19 to 22, 2005 for public hearings on its study on the Canadian Feature Film Industry.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage be granted a travel budget of $51,387 to travel to Winnipeg (MB), on April 3 et 4, 2005 for public hearings on its study on the Canadian Feature Film Industry.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted an operational budget of $12,300 for its study on grain testing and inspection, and the WTO ruling on the treatment of foreign grain.

 

It was agreed, — That the Clerk of the Committee be directed not to include on the agenda any budget request that is incorrectly completed.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans be granted an operational budget of $16,500 for its study of the turbot quota of the Baffin Fisheries Coalition in the Davis Strait.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs be granted an operational budget of $8,000 for its study on Veteran’s Review and Appeal Board.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs be granted an operational budget of $11,800 for its study on the Necessity to have an independent Ombudsman for Veterans and associated issues related to Gulf War Veterans.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development be granted a supplementary operational budget of $21,300 for its study on Residential School Resolution.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development be granted an operational budget of $68,500 for its study on On-Reserve Matrimonial Real Property.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Official Languages be granted a travel budget of $61,521 to travel to Bathurst, Eastern Township, Toronto, Windsor, from April 11 to 15, 2005, for site visits on its study on the government action plan on official languages.

 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Official Languages be granted a travel budget of $85,963 to travel to Whitehorse, Vancouver, Saint Boniface, and Sudbury, from April 11 to 15, 2005, for site visits on its study on the government action plan on official languages.

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee on National Security and Public Safety of the Standing Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness be granted a general operating budget of $9,900 .

 

It was agreed, — That the Subcommittee on National Security and Public Safety of the Standing Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness be granted a budget of $49,850 for its study on the Antiterrorism Law .

 

At 2:12 p.m., the Subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
