The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met in camera at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 371, West Block, the Chair, Paul Steckle, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David L. Anderson, Charlie Angus, James Bezan, Hon. Claude Drouin, Hon. Wayne Easter, Hon. Mark Eyking, Larry Miller, Gerry Ritz, Paul Steckle and Rose-Marie Ur.

 

Acting Members present: André Bellavance for Denise Poirier-Rivard and Réal Lapierre for Roger Gaudet.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Principal.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food be granted a travel budget in the amount of $ 110 556 to travel to London (U.K.), Geneva (Switzerland) and Paris (France), in November 2005.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee hold an in camera briefing session on dairy terms labelling with officials from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee invite the Minister responsible for the Canadian Wheat Board to appear before the Committee to discuss the establishment of initial pricing.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake a study on corn trade with the United States.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee invite the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food to appear before the Committee in order to discuss the Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization Program (CAIS).

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee hold a briefing session with Competition Bureau officials to discuss agricultural issues.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee hold a briefing session on beef trade.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee invite François Guimont, President, Canadian Food Inspection Agency, to appear before the Committee.

 

By unanimous consent, it was agreed, — That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee hold a briefing session on the review of the Canadian Grain Commission.

 

At 5:15 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
