Meeting No. 13

Thursday, February 13, 2003

The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:23 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Chair, Judi Longfield, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Eugène Bellemare, John Finlay, Judi Longfield, Gurbax Malhi, Raymond Simard, Monte Solberg, Diane St-Jacques and Suzanne Tremblay.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Chantal Colin and Kevin Kerr, Research Officers.

Witnesses: From the Office of the Auditor General: Maria Barrados, Assistant Auditor General; Peter Simeoni, Principal; Suzanne Therrien, Director. From the Department of Human Resources Development: Maryantonett Flumian, Associate Deputy Minister; Charles Nixon, Acting Assistant Deputy Minister, Insurance; Lu Fernandez, A/Director, Investigation and Control Operations.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed the review of the Social Insurance Number Action Plan.

Maria Barrados from the Office of the Auditor General and Maryantonett Flumian from the Department of Human Resources made a statement and with the other witnesses answered questions.

At 5:00 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
