Thursday, June 5, 2003
The Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs met at 11:13 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Peter Adams, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Peter Adams, Marlene Catterall, Rodger Cuzner, Michel Guimond, Joe Jordan, Gerald Keddy, Lynn Myers, Geoff Regan and Jacques Saada.
Acting Member present: Ken Epp for Dale Johnston.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Margaret Young, Research Officer.
Appearing: Hon. Don Boudria, Minister of State and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons.
Witness: From the Privy Council Office: Mitch Bloom, Privy Council Officer.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference of Tuesday, May 6, 2003, the Committee commenced consideration of Bill C-34, An Act to amend the Parliament of Canada Act (Ethics Commissioner and Senate Ethics Officer) and other Acts in consequence.
The Chair called Clause 1.
The Minister made a statement and, with Mitch Bloom, answered questions.
At 12:32 p.m., the sitting was suspended.
At 12:35 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.
The Committee considered its future business.
At 12:49 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
