The
Sub-Committee on Children and Youth at Risk of the Standing Committee on Human
Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met at 3:35
p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, John Godfrey,
presiding.
Member(s) of the
Sub-Committee present:
John Godfrey, Monique Guay, Larry Spencer, Diane St-Jacques and Alan Tonks.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament:
Julie Mackenzie, Research Officer.
Witness(es): From the Chippewas of Nawash
Health Centre: Kim Akiwenzie, Community Health Representative. From the
Nshimi Daycare: Helena Joanne Keeshig, Native Language - Resource Teacher.
Pursuant to Standing Order
108(2) and its Order of Reference from the Standing Committee on Human
Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities, the
Sub-Committee resumed its study on the status of aboriginal children living on
and off reserves and on federal programs available to them (See Minutes of
Proceedings of March 01, 2001 – Meeting No.06).
The witnesses each made a
statement and answered questions.
At 5:01 p.m., the Committee
adjourned to the call of the Chair.
