Meeting No. 47

Thursday, March 14, 2002

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met in a televised session at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Co-Chair, David Price, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Claude Bachand, Leon Benoit, Stan Dromisky, John O'Reilly, David Price and Carmen Provenzano.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers; Barry Hamilton, Consultant.

Witnesses: From the The Boeing Company: Lieutenant-General (Retired) Allan DeQuetteville, Vice President - Canada. From the Airbus Military Company: Richard Thompson, Commercial Director; Claude Lafrance, President, EADS Canada. From the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company: The Honourable Jean-Jacques Blais; Peter E. Simmons, Communications Director, Air Mobility Programs.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed consideration of its study on the state of readiness of the Canadian Forces.

The witnesses made opening statements and answered questions.

At 5:21 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
