Meeting No. 12

Tuesday, May 8, 2001

The Standing Committee on National Defence and Veterans Affairs met at 3:30 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Vice-Chair, Peter Goldring, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Claude Bachand, Leon Benoit, Peter Goldring, Judi Longfield, Janko Perić, Louis Plamondon, Carmen Provenzano, Geoff Regan, Elsie Wayne, Bryon Wilfert, Bob Wood.

Acting Member present: Mark Eyking for David Price.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Wolf Koerner and Michel Rossignol, Research Officers.

Witness: As Individual: Major General Lewis MacKenzie.

The Committee resumed consideration of its study on the state of readiness of the Canadian Forces.

Major General MacKenzie made an opening statement and answered questions.

At 5:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
