MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 30

Thursday, June 7, 2001

The Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities met in camera at 11:35 a.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Peter Adams, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Peter Adams, Jeannot Castonguay, Paul Crête, Libby Davies, Raymonde Folco, Monique Guay, Judi Longfield, Joe McGuire, Carol Skelton, Diane St-Jacques and Alan Tonks.

Acting Member(s) present: , Roy Bailey for Dale Johnston, Carolyn Bennett for Tony Ianno, John Godfrey for Raymonde Folco from 11:35 to 12;00 and Robert Lanctôt for Monique Guay from 11:44 to 12:09.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Kevin Kerr, Julie Mackenzie and Bill Young, Research Officer.

Carolyn Bennett and John Godfrey presented "A Common Vision" the First Joint Interim Report of the Sub-Committee on Children and Youth at Risk and of the Sub-Committee on the Status of Person with Disabilities.

It was agreed, -- That the First Joint Interim Report of the Sub-Committee on Children and Youth at Risk and of the Sub-Committee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities be adopted as the Fourth Report of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities.

It was agreed, --That the Clerk be authorized to make such editorial and typographical changes as necessary without changing the substance of the Report.

It was agreed, --That the Chair be authorised to table the Report in the House.

It was agreed, --That the Committee print 250 copies of its Report in a tumble bilingual format.

It was agreed, --That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee requests that the Government table a comprehensive response to the Report within one hundred and fifty (150) days.

It was agreed, --That a press conference be arranged immediately following tabling of the Report in the House.

The Committee proceeded to study its Report on "Access to Higher Education and Training".

It was agreed, --That the draft interim report (as amended) on Access to Higher Education and Training be adopted as the Fifth Report of the Standing Committee on Human Resources Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities.

It was agreed, -- That the Clerk be authorized to make such editorial and typographical changes as necessary without changing the substance of the Report.

It was agreed, -- That the Chair be authorised to table the Report to the House.

It was agreed, -- That the Committee print 250 copies of its Second Report in a tumble bilingual format.

It was agreed, -- That, pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee requests that the Government table a comprehensive response to the Report within one hundred and fifty (150) days.

At 12:09 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
