Meeting No. 54

Thursday, April 25, 2002

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met in a televised session at 9:12 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sarmite Bulte, Rodger Cuzner, Christiane Gagnon, Loyola Hearn, Wendy Lill, Clifford Lincoln, Chuck Strahl and Tony Tirabassi.

Other Member present: John MacKay.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Cofman, intern; Joseph Jackson, Terrence Thomas, Research Officers; Consultant:  David Black.

Witnesses: From Vision TV: Bill Roberts, President and CEO. From CPAC: Colette Watson, President and General Manager. From TFO - TV Ontario: Claudette Paquin, Managing Director; Louis Paquin, President, "Alliance des producteurs francophones du Canada"; Laurent de Combrughe, Director General, "Association des professionnels de la chanson et de la musique en Ontario". Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on the State of the Canadian Broadcasting System.  (See Minutes of Proceeding, dated Thursday, November 8, 2001, Meeting No. 26).

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 11:00 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
