Tuesday, March 19, 2002

The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met in a televised session at 9:08 a.m. this day, in Room 237-C, Centre Block, the Chair, Clifford Lincoln, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Jim Abbott, Sarmite Bulte, Claude Duplain, Christiane Gagnon, Wendy Lill, Clifford Lincoln and Tony Tirabassi.

Acting Member present: Robert Lanctôt for Caroline St-Hilaire.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Cofman, intern; Terrence Thomas, research officer; Consultant: David Black.

Witnesses: From the "Alliance des radios communautaires du Canada": Serge Paquin, Secretary General; Robert Boulay, Development Officer. From the "Association des radiodiffuseurs communautaires du Québec": Jean-Pierre Bédard, President; Lucie Gagnon, Secretary General. From the "Corporation de Télédiffusion du Grand Châteauguay inc.": André Simard, Secretary, Board of Directors; André Desrochers, Coordinator, " Comité pour le rebranchement ". From the "Fédération des télévisions communautaires autonomes du Québec": Stéphane Lépine, Vice-President; André Desrochers, Administrator; Gérald Gauthier, Research and Development Officer. Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study on the State of the Canadian Broadcasting System.  (See Minutes of Proceeding, dated Thursday, November 8, 2001, Meeting No. 26).

The witnesses made statements and answered questions.

At 12:58 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
