The Standing Committee on Finance met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Carolyn Bennett, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Roger Gallaway, Albina Guarnieri, Richard Harris, John McCallum, Pauline Picard, Gary Pillitteri.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alexandre Laurin and Marc-André Pigeon, Researchers.
Witnesses: From the Department of Finance: Susan Peterson, Assistant Deputy Minister, Federal-Provincial Relations and Social Policy Branch; Dominique La Salle, Chief, Strategic Planning, Federal-Provincial Relations Division; Sean Keenan, Senior Program Analyst, Federal-Provincial Relations Division; Frank Vermaeten, Chief, Policy Development and Research, Federal-Provincial Relations Division.
The Order of Reference dated Monday, April 2, 2001, being now read as follows:
ORDERED, -- That Bill C-18, An Act to amend the Federal-Provincial Fiscal Arrangements Act be now read a second time and referred to the Standing Committee on Finance.
The Chair called Clause 1.
The Assistant Deputy Minister made a statement and with the other witnesses from the Department of Finance, answered questions.
At 4:54 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
