MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 20

Thursday, November 18, 1999

The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 6:08 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Maurizio Bevilacqua, Roger Gallaway and Paul Szabo.

Acting Members present: Grant McNally for Ken Epp; Stéphan Tremblay for Yvan Loubier.

Associate Member present: Carolyn Bennett.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Marion Wrobel, Senior Analyst.

Witnesses: From the Canada Family Action Coalition: Peter Stock, National Affairs Director. As Individual: Neil B. McFadyen; Sheridan J. Gardner; Frank E. Stokes; Charles E. Van Wagner. From the National Children's Alliance: Harvey Weiner, Member. From the Canadian Child Care Federation: Dianne Bascombe, Past Executive Director. From the Learning Disabilities Association of Canada: James Horan, Past President.

In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultations. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, November 2, 1999, Meeting No. 2).

Peter Stock, Sheridan Gardner, Charles van Wagner, Dianne Bascombe, Harvey Weiner and James Horan made statements and, with the other participants in the roundtable, answered questions.

At 6:40 p.m., Paul Szabo took the Chair.

At 6:43 p.m., the Chair took the Chair.

At 7:45 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
