The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 11:38 a.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Maurizio Bevilacqua, Scott Brison, Roy Cullen, Sophia Leung, Richard Marceau, The Hon. Lorne Nystrom, Karen Redman, Monte Solberg and Paul Szabo.
Acting Member present: Carolyn Bennett for Roger Gallaway.
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Jean Soucy, Researcher.
Witnesses: From the Conference of Defence Associations: Col Alain Pellerin, Executive Director; Col Sean Henry, Senior Defence Analyst. From the Railway Association of Canada: Robert H. Ballantyne, President. From the Genome Canada: Martin Godbout, Executive Director; Brian Harling, Executive Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, MDS Health Corporation; Peter McCann, President, Ag-West Biotech Inc.. From the Cultural Human Resources Council: Jean-Philippe Tabet, Executive Director; Leah Geller, Marketing Director.
In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83.1, the Committee resumed its Pre-Budget Consultations. (See Minutes of Proceedings, Tuesday, November 2, 1999, Meeting No. 2).
Alain Pellerin, Robert Ballantyne, Brian Harling, Jean-Philippe Tabet and Leah Geller made statements and, with the other participants in the roundtable, answered questions.
At 1:08 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
