Meeting No. 16

Tuesday, December 14, 1999

The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met in camera at 4:50 p.m. this day, in Room 362, East Block, the Chair, Bill Graham, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Sarkis Assadourian, Jean Augustine, Colleen Beaumier, Bill Graham, Diane Marleau, Fred Mifflin, Deepak Obhrai, Denis Paradis, Bernard Patry, Bob Speller.

From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Gerald Schmitz, Daniel Dupras, Research Officers.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and Article 25(3) of the Export Development Act, the Committee resumed its examination of the Report on the Review of the Export Development Act.

The Committee resumed its examination of a draft Report.

It was agreed, -That the Committee prepare its Report, entitled Exporting in the Canadian Interest : Reviewing the Export Development Act, as a standard black and white report with a black and white cover.

It was agreed, -That the draft report, as amended, be adopted as the Second Report of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade and that the Chair be authorized to present the Report to the House of Commons.

It was agreed, -That the Committee print 1000 copies of the Report in a bilingual tumbled format.

It was agreed, -That pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response to this Report.

It was agreed, -That the Chair be authorized to make such typographical and editorial changes as may be necessary without changing the substance of the Report to the House.

Is it agreed, -That the Committee authorize the printing of dissenting opinions as an appendix to this Report immediately following the signature of the Chair and that the dissenting opinions be limited to no more than five (5) pages, to be delivered to the Clerk of the Committee no later than noon, Wednesday, December 15, 1999 in both official languages.

At 4:56 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
