MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS

Meeting No. 28

Thursday, October 5, 2000

The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 3:40 p.m. this day, in Room 536, Wellington Building, for the purpose of electing a Chair and two Vice-Chairs, pursusant to Standing Order 106(1) and 106(2).

Members of the Committee present: Claude Bachand, Reed Elley, John Finlay, Ivan Grose, John O'Reilly.

Acting Members present: Joe Fontana for Reg Alcock, Claude Drouin for Réginald Bélair, Bernard Patry for Gerry Byrne, Carolyn Parrish for Stan Dromisky, Charles Hubbard for Guy St-Julien.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Mary Hurley, researcher; Tonina Simeone, research officer.

Organization meeting pursuant to Standing Orders 106(1) and 106(2), Election of Chair and Vice-Chairs.

The Clerk presided over the election of a Chair.

On motion of Yvan Grose, it was agreed, -That John O'Reilly do take the Chair of this Committee.

John O'Reilly took the Chair.

On motion of Carolyn Parrish, it was agreed, -That Nancy Karetak Lindell be elected Vice-Chair in absentia.

On motion of Claude Bachand, it was agreed, -That Reed Elley be elected Vice-Chair.

At 3:45 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
