Meeting No. 42

Thursday, November 26, 1998

The Standing Committee on Transport met at 3:34 p.m. this day, in Room 308, West Block, the Chair, Ray Bonin, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: Rob Anders, Roy Bailey, Ray Bonin, Murray Calder, Roy Cullen, Bev Desjarlais, Stan Dromisky, Claude Drouin, Stan Keyes, Paul Mercier, Lee Morrison, Lou Sekora.

Acting Member present: David Price for Bill Casey.

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: John Christopher, Researcher.

Appearing: The Honourable David Collenette, Minister of Transport.

Witnesses: From the Department of Transport: Margaret Bloodworth, Deputy Minister; Ron Jackson, Assistant Deputy Minister; Louis Ranger, Assistant Deputy Minister; Ronald Sully, Assistant Deputy Minister; Janet Milne, Assistant Deputy Minister; Pierre Faucher, Director; Luc Gaudet, Acting Director General.

Pursuant to an Order of Reference of the House dated Thursday, October 29, 1998, the Committee proceeded to the examination of the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 1999. - Privy Council, Vote 15b - Transport, Votes 1b, 5b, 10b, 15b, 27b and 30b

The Committee also examined, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), Transport Canada's Performance Report for the period ending March 31, 1998.

The Honourable David Collenette made an opening statement and, with Margueret Bloodworth, Ron Jackson, Louis Ranger, Ronald Sully, Janet Milne, Pierre Faucher and Luc Gaudet, answered questions.

 

At 4:59 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
