Meeting No. 61

Tuesday, December 8, 1998

The Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met in camera at 9:07 a.m. this day, in Room 306, West Block, the Chair, Charles Hubbard, presiding.

Member(s) of the Committee present: Yvan Bernier, John Cummins, Claude Drouin, Wayne Easter, Charles Hubbard, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Bill Matthews, Carmen Provenzano, Lou Sekora, Paul Steckle and Peter Stoffer.

Acting Member(s) present: Robert Nault for Claude Drouin.

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Alan Nixon, Research Officer.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), consideration of the Prince Edward Island Fisheries issues.

At 9 h 45 a.m. the Committee was suspended.

At 11h 45 a.m., the Committee resumed.

It was agreed, - That the draft report on the Prince Edward Island be adopted as the Committee's Eight Report to the House.

It was agreed, - That the title of the report be "The Prince Edward Island Report".

It was agreed, - That the Eight Report be printed in accordance with the policy established by the Board of Internal Economy.

It was agreed, - That Pursuant to Standing Order 109, the Committee request that the Government table a comprehensive response.

It was agreed, - That the Eight Report be tabled on Thursday, December 10, 1998.

It was moved, - That the Committee append the dissenting opinion of the Reform Party following the Chair's signature. After debate thereon, the question being put on the motion, it was negatived.

At 12:40 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
