Tuesday, May 12, 1998

The Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development met at 11:13 o’clock a.m., this day, in room 705, La Promenade, the Chair, Guy Saint-Julien, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: John Bryden, Gordon Earle, John Finlay, Nancy Karetak-Lindell, Gerald Keddy, Derrek Konrad, Grant McNally, Bernard Patry, Guy Saint-Julien and Bryon Wilfert.

Acting Member present: Paul Crête for Claude Bachand.

In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jill Wherrett, Research Officer.

Witnesses: "Le Groupe Cleary": Bernard Cleary, President. Luc Lainé, Vice-President. Guy Beaudet, Vice-President. Vincent Poulin, "Chargé d'affaires".

In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 108(2), the Committee resumed its study of Aboriginal Economic Development. (See Minutes of Proceedings dated Tuesday, March 24, 1998, Meeting No. 21.)

Bernard Cleary and Luc Lainé made opening statements and answered questions.

At 1:15 o’clock p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
