Pursuant to the order of reference of Thursday, May 12, 2022, the committee resumed consideration of Bill C-11, An Act to amend the Broadcasting Act and to make related and consequential amendments to other Acts.

The Minister made a statement and, with Thomas Owen Ripley, answered questions.

At 4:31 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:34 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Motion

Chris Bittle moved, — That the committee commence its clause-by-clause study on the Online Streaming Act no later than Wednesday, June 8, at 3:30 p.m.

Amendment

Rachael Thomas moved, — That the motion be amended by replacing the words “no later than Wednesday, June 8, at 3:30 p.m.” with the following: "after the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage completes a study of the alleged involvement of Hockey Canada in sexual assaults committed in 2018; that the committee invite the Minister of Sport to appear for no less than one hour; and that the committee invite representatives of Hockey Canada for no less than two hours.”.

At 4:41 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

The Chair ruled the amendment admissible.
