Pursuant to Standing Order 81(4), the Committee commenced consideration of the Main Estimates 2016-17: Vote 1 under Chief Electoral Officer, referred to the Committee on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.

The Chair called Vote 1 under Chief Electoral Officer.

Marc Mayrand made a statement and answered questions.

Vote 1 under Chief Electoral Officer carried.

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Vote 1, less the amount voted in Interim Supply, under Chief Electoral Officer to the House.

At 12:03 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 12:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(3)(a) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, January 28, 2016, the Committee resumed its study of initiatives toward a family-friendly House of Commons.

Thomas Shannon, Tara Hogeterp, Mélisa Ferreira and Roger Thompson made statements and, with Jim McDonald, answered questions.

The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the study of initiatives toward a family-friendly House of Commons, the Clerk and the Serjeant-at-Arms of the House of Representatives, Parliament of Australia be invited to appear by videoconference from Canberra, Australia on the evening of Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

It was agreed, — That, in relation to the Order of Reference of April 19, 2016 (the matter of the premature disclosure of the contents of Bill C-14, An Act to amend the Criminal Code and to make related amendments to other Acts (medical assistance in dying), the Law Clerk be invited to appear before the Committee on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

It was agreed, — That, notwithstanding the motion adopted by the Committee on Thursday, March 10, 2016, the informal briefing with Elections Canada be rescheduled.

On motion of Scott Reid, it was agreed, — That, whenever possible, the Committee televise its public hearings when they are held in rooms equipped for that purpose.

At 1:16 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
