The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 8:48 a.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Chair, Randy Hoback, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Ron Cannan, Don Davies, Chrystia Freeland, Nina Grewal, Randy Hoback, Laurin Liu, Marc-André Morin, Erin O'Toole, Blake Richards and Devinder Shory.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst; Pascal Tremblay, Analyst.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2), the Clerk of the Committee proceeded to the election of a Vice-Chair.
 

On motion of Erin O'Toole, it was agreed, — That Chrystia Freeland be elected Second Vice-Chair of the Committee.

 

At 8:49 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 8:50 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

Chrystia Freeland gave notice of the following motion:

That, pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee undertake a study on the positive effects for Canada of a Canada–Ukraine Free Trade Agreement, an agreement which has the expressed and explicit support of the Prime Minister, the current government, Members from all parties, as well as the President of Ukraine and his administration.

 

It was agreed, — That on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, the Committee devote its meeting to the planning of its study on small and medium size enterprises.

 

It was agreed, — That the members submit their prioritized lists of witnesses for the study on the small and medium size enterprises no later than on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.

 

It was agreed, — That on Monday, February 2, 2015, the Committee hear from the Chief Air Negotiator, the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development and Transport Canada in relation to the study on the positive effects of the Global Markets Action Plan.

 

At 9:23 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
