The Standing Committee on International Trade met at 8:44 a.m. this day, in Room 306, La Promenade Building, the Chair, the Hon. Rob Merrifield, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Hon. Ron Cannan, Don Davies, Russ Hiebert, Ed Holder, Brian Masse, Hon. Rob Merrifield, Marc-André Morin, Massimo Pacetti, Jasbir Sandhu and Devinder Shory.

 

Acting Members present: Randy Hoback for Erin O'Toole, Larry Miller for Erin O'Toole and Hon. Gordon O'Connor for Hon. Ted Menzies.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Alexandre Gauthier, Analyst; Pascal Tremblay, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: BIOTECanada: Andrew Casey, President and Chief Executive Officer. Forest Products Association of Canada: Catherine Cobden, Executive Vice-President. Dairy Farmers of Canada: Yves Leduc, Director, International Trade; Ron Versteeg, Vice-President. Canadian Cattlemen's Association: John Masswohl, Director, Government and International Relations.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2) and the motion adopted by the Committee on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, the Committee resumed its study of the Canada-European Union comprehensive economic and trade agreement (CETA).
 

Andrew Casey and Catherine Coldren made statements and answered questions.

 

At 9:38 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 9:43 a.m., the sitting resumed.

 

John Masswohl and Yves Leduc made statements and, with Ron Versteeg, answered questions.

 

At 10:42 a.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 10:45 a.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

It was agreed, — That, in relation to its study of the Canada-European Union comprehensive economic and trade agreement (CETA), the proposed budget in the amount of $71,733.60 for the Committee’s travel to Vancouver, British Columbia, in winter 2014, be adopted and that the Chair present the said budget to the Subcommittee on Budgets of the Liaison Committee.

 

At 10:53 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
