The Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 701, La Promenade Building, the Chair, James Bezan, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: David Anderson, André Bellavance, James Bezan, Ken Boshcoff, Barry Devolin, Hon. Wayne Easter, Jacques Gourde, Larry Miller and Paul Steckle.

 

Acting Members present: Paul Crête for Roger Gaudet and Paul Zed for Hon. Charles Hubbard.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette, Principal; Mathieu Frigon, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Canadian Food Inspection Agency: Debra Bryanton, Executive Director, Food Safety. Department of Finance : Gilles Le Blanc, Senior Chief, International Trade Policy Division, International Trade and Finance. Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade: Gerry Salembier, Director General, Multilateral Trade Policy. Canada Border Services Agency: Darwin Satherstrom, Director, Trade Programs Directorate. Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food: Steve Verheul, Chief Agriculture Negotiator, Negotiations and Multilateral Trade Policy Directorate.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the World Trade Organization.
 

Steve Verheul made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 4:20 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 4:24 p.m., the sitting resumed.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), the Committee proceeded to a briefing on the Imports of Milk Protein Concentrates.
 

Steve Verheul made a statement and, with the other witnesses, answered questions.

 

At 5:20 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
