The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 308 West Block, the Chair, Marlene Catterall, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Charlie Angus, Gord Brown, Marlene Catterall, Wajid Khan, Maka Kotto, Marc Lemay, Pablo Rodriguez, Gary Schellenberger and Scott Simms.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Joseph Jackson, Analyst; Sam Banks, Analyst.

 
The Committee proceeded to the consideration of matters related to Committee business.
 

The Committee agreed on the following schedule of meetings fo the months of November and December 2004:

Monday, November 22 - The Honourable Raymond Chan, Minister of State (Multiculturalism)

Wednesday, November 24 - The Honourable Liza Frulla, Minister of Canadian Heritage

Monday, November 29 - Supplementary Estimates (A) 2004-2005

Wednesday, December 1 - Bill C-18 - An Act to amend the Telefilm Canada Act and another Act

Monday, December 6 - National Capital Commission - Marcel Beaudry, President

Wednesday, December 8 - Canadian Heritage Department's program “Tomorrow Starts Today”

Monday, December 13 - The Honourable Stephen Owen, Minister of State (Sport)

Wednesday, December 15 - Senior Management - CBC/Radio Canada (TV and Radio) and Société Radio Canada (TV and Radio)

 

Pursuant to Standing Order 108(2), The Committee agreed to undertake a study on feature Film Industry in Canada in 2005.

 
Pursuant to Standing Orders 110 and 111, the Committee commenced consideration of the Order in Council appointment of Robert Rabinovitch to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) referred to the Committee on November 4, 2004.
 

The Committee proceeded to consider its draft Report on the Order in Council appointment of Robert Rabinovitch to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC/Radio Canada).

 

Gary Schellenberger moved, — That the Third report of the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage be adopted and that the Chair presents it to the House.

 

After debate, the question was put on the motion and it was agreed to.

 

At 4:21 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
