The Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage met at 3:32 p.m. this day, in Room 209 West Block, the Chair, Marlene Catterall, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present: Gord Brown, Sarmite Bulte, Marlene Catterall, Maka Kotto, Marc Lemay, Deepak Obhrai, Pablo Rodriguez, Gary Schellenberger and Scott Simms.

 

In attendance: Library of Parliament: Joseph Jackson, Analyst; Sam Banks, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: Department of Canadian Heritage: Jean-Pierre Blais, Assistant Deputy Minister, Cultural Affairs; Diane Fulford, Assistant Deputy Minister, Public Affairs and Communications; Hilaire Lemoine, Executive Director, Portfolio Affairs Office; Bruce Manion, Assistant Deputy Minister, Planning and Corporate Affairs; Jacques Paquette, Assistant Deputy Minister, International and intergovernmental Affairs; Cynthia White-Thornley, Director General, Arts Policy Branch.

 
Pursuant to Standing Order 81(5), the Committee commenced consideration of the Supplementary Estimates (A) 2004-2005: Votes 1a, 5a, 35a, 45a, 46a, 55a, 60a, 75a and 95a under Department of Canadian Heritage referred to the Committee on November 4, 2004.
 

Bruce Manion made an opening statement and with the witnesses answered questions.

 

It was agreed, that Pursuant to Standing Order 110 and 111, the Committee examine the nomination of S. Wayne Clarkson as Executive Director of Telefilm Canada on Wednesday, December 1, 2004.

 

It was agreed that, Votes 1a, 5a, 35a, 45a, 46a, 55a, 60a, 75a and 95a under Department of Canadian Heritage carry.

 

ORDERED, — That the Chair report Votes 1a, 5a, 35a, 45a, 46a, 55a, 60a, 75a and 95a under Department of Canadian Heritage to the House.

 

At 5:17 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
