The Standing Committee on Finance met in a televised session at 3:36 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Chair, Maurizio Bevilacqua, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: Sue Barnes, Carolyn Bennett, Maurizio Bevilacqua, Scott Brison, Roy Cullen, Ken Epp, Albina Guarnieri, Yvan Loubier, John McCallum, Lorne Nystrom, Gary Pillitteri.
Acting Member present: Suzanne Tremblay for Pauline Picard.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Blayne Haggart; Researcher, Marion Wrobel, Senior Analyst.
Witnesses: From National Science Organization Working Group: Dr. Howard Alper, Past Chair, Partnership Group for Science & Engineering, Vice Rector, Research, University of Ottawa. From Canadian Resource Centre for Victims of Crime: Steve Sullivan, President and Executive director. From Business Tax Reform Coalition: Barry Lacombe, President, Canadian Steel Producers' Association; Fiona Cook, Vice-President, International Trade and Government Relations, Forest Products Association of Canada. In accordance with its mandate under Standing Order 83(1), the Committee continued its study on Pre-Budget Consultations.
Dr. Howard Alper, Steve Sullivan, Barry Lacombe, Fiona Cook, Serge Lebeau and Michael Gorman, made opening statements and, answered questions.
At 5:29 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
