Become a Page

Are you interested in becoming a page and being part of an unforgettable year-long experience? The page program hires a new cohort of 40 students annually. Its recruitment campaign begins every September, and those applying must be looking to enroll in their first year of university or college the following September.

Candidates’ competencies will first be assessed through an online application. Selected candidates will then undergo a second-language evaluation, an interview and reference checks. The final selection of the 40 pages is completed by the end of March each year.

The page program is committed to having a skilled, diversified workforce reflective of Canadian society and to ensuring the equitable representation of women, Aboriginal peoples, members of visible minority groups, and persons with disabilities. We encourage members of these employment equity groups to self-identify when they apply to the program.

The page program is also dedicated to ensuring students’ academic success and supporting their work-life balance. For this reason, potential candidates should consult our FAQ section, as not all programs of study have a course schedule that aligns with the work requirements of a page.

• Eligibility Requirements

  In order to apply, you must:

  • be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident;
  • be graduating, or have graduated, from high school;
  • be starting full-time or part-time studies in September 2026 at one of the eligible post-secondary institutions in the national capital region;
  • be willing to reside in the national capital region during your year of employment; and
  • orally communicate fluently in both official languages (will be formally evaluated by the House of Commons).

• Experience

  In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements indicated above, to be selected, candidates must demonstrate:

  • experience providing client service through employment, volunteering, or extracurricular activities;
  • experience in managing multiple priorities (e.g. work, school, community involvement, family, etc.); and
  • experience communicating and collaborating with peers (e.g. teamwork, conflict resolution, etc.).

  As an asset, candidates may:

  • Demonstrate interest in learning about the Canadian parliamentary system and its history.
